How to play Carrom

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Carrom. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Look at what changes after your first action. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

Notice the feedback

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Step by step

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Controls

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Verify the rule before continuing.

Watch out for this

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
